History of Hillside and Nicaragua
It all started when…
“In 2006, Chuck Hunter and Jesse Armstrong traveled to Nicaragua, spending time in La Chureca—a dump community in Managua—and the city of Masaya, where they met a group of street boys who huffed shoe glue to dull their hunger and escape their harsh reality. A year later, they returned with a team for a concert in La Chureca, and we joined them with our children. During that trip, we met the boys of Masaya and felt deeply connected. Jesse planned to spend the summer there and needed a companion—so we decided to go as a family. That summer, we spent our days with the boys—sharing meals, playing games, and offering care.” – Katie Flack
